Arsenal are targeting Sporting striker as Wenger failed to sign Jamie Vardy. A Bola reports that Arsenal will try to sign Islam Slimani from sporting. Leicester and Tottenham reportedly have already had a bid rejected for the Algeria international. Meanwhile, Jamie Vardy has rejected Arsenal’s £150,000-a-week offer and agreed a four-year contract extension with Leicester City. And Arsene Wenger has confirmed Vardy’s decision. Speaking about the 29-year-old striker, Wenger noted:  “I think Leicester have made a statement and Vardy will stay. We were on the case and interested, but not more than that. He has decided to stay at Leicester and good luck to him.” The coach stressed: “He came late to the game and in fairness Leicester bought him from Fleetwood and he has been successful. He is 29 and he has chosen to stay at Leicester. You have to respect that.”
However, Arsenal remain keen on Leicester city midfielder N’Golo Kante but have attempted to negotiate a fee lower than the France international’s release clause.
